Car Stereo Upgrade

Posted

So i like my old Vauxhall Insignia very much, it only cost me £1800 and has been a very reliable work horse since i got it in 2019. Being a 2010 model, it is however sadly lacking in the technology department when it comes to features such as in built support for Google Maps, Spotify and a DAB radio that you get with newer cars (Android Auto?)

The current stereo does support Bluetooth connectivity, so up until now i have simply used the aforementioned features using my phone and suitable dash mount.

I have brought (bought?) a new new headunit from ebay and hope to document my experience of attempting to install it in the car. You will notice at this point that this post ends abruptly ends since this is as far i have got. Come back later when perhaps i have figured out to how to wire this thing in!

Whats in the box?

Below is the unit i purchased from ebay, and the components that make up the unit:

  • Fascia unit including buttons for traction control and alarm disabling
  • LCD dsiplay
  • Various wiring harnesses

The arent any instructions as such, only a small booklet containing information on the operation of the unit and a wiring pinout.
